heres some info on the new TR movie from SciFiWire....

De Bont Talks Tomb 2

Jan de Bont, the director of the upcoming Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, told SCI FI Wire that the sequel film will be bigger, but more realistic. "This is a great story, and more reality-based than the first film, concentrating on both ancient and modern worlds, but not so fantasy-based," de Bont said in an e-mail interview.

Added de Bont (Speed), "It's a darker, sexier story, and it shows Lara's [Angelina Jolie] vulnerability, and is more three dimensional. She's not superhuman. She can be tested. She doesn't always have the answers. All the characters have been more thoroughly developed."

But the film will also feature bigger action, sets and locations, de Bont said. "Visually it's a stunning film," he said. "We have been all over the world to locations you have never seen on film before. Perhaps the most thrilling was in Africa, possibly the actual cradle of civilization, where we filmed in the crater of an active volcano, known as the mountain of God, in Tanzania."

"There is double the action in this movie, but it is very integrated with the story," de Bont added. "Angelina is very physical, and she is very good at action. Other actresses say they did the stunts, but few of them do. Angelina is more accomplished than any other actress." Cradle of Life, which just wrapped production, opens July 25.

about the 30 second trailer from Ain't it cool news....

Hey folks, Harry here... I know I give Lara Croft and the TOMB RAIDER franchise a lot of strife, but ya know... If the first film hadn't sucked the chrome off a Harley Davidson at 95 mph, well I could cut it some slack. Admittedly though, there are all new people involved on this. A new screenwriter, a new director, a new editor... Hell, they seem to have even abandoned the lame power items of Alexander the Great thing they had in an early treatment I read. I want a cool movie with Angelina Jolie in it, I really do. She's hot as hell, and I do believe that she has a great deal of untapped talent and charisma... and he said there was a glimpse of a sex scene in the trailer... ya know... that probably means one of those from behind shots like the shower shot in the first film... But that really isn't what TOMB RAIDER is about, TOMB RAIDER should be about great action and great ancient mysteries uncovered. Let's hope Jan De Bont had the key to unlocking a good Lara Croft film... Let's hope...

and more....
I was called aside in a movie store at the weekend to watch a thirty second trailer for Tomb Raider 2 and to give feedback on what I thought.

The plot looked straight forward enough. Lara is looking for "Pandoras Box" so that some bad guys do not get their hands on it first and mess up the world. Nothing new there.

The action looked pretty good. There was some cool shots of Lara firing her trade mark two guns at a car and then running over the top of it. Another shot of her on a motorbike jumping of some ledge out into the air. There was one underwater scene with a shark which looked even more fake than the ones in the computer games, but I was told that the effects are still not finished. By far the coolest scene almost at the end of the trailer was Lara and someone else sky diving off a really tall building. Cut in with all this was some shots of various Lara at different exotic locations. There was also a sex scene which may have involved Lara, the scene jumped by very quick!

Over all it looked like it should be entertaining and worth a trip to your local movie theatre. It looks like it should be better than the first.
